Elizabeth Owens joined the News Channel 7 team in November of 2007 as general assignment reporter. You can catch Elizabeth during the weekday evenings at 5:00 and 6:00 and on the weekend evenings at 6:00 and 11:00.
Elizabeth comes to Channel 7 from WRGT in Dayton, Ohio. While in Dayton, she covered everything from snow storms to national stories like the murder of a foster child and the killing of a baby in a microwave. Elizabeth also won Associated Press Award there for her story Life on the Streets when she lived as a homeless person on the streets for two days during the winter.
Elizabeth isn’t a stranger to the Carolinas! She reported for WXLV in Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point for two years.
She started her career as an intern reporter at GPTV in Atlanta while she was still a senior at Georgia State University.
This Southern Girl is ecstatic to be back down South! Elizabeth was born in Florida and raised in Georgia. She is the bossy oldest sister to eight…yes….eight brothers and sisters. She is also the proud Aunt of the official cutest niece in the whole world.
When Elizabeth isn’t covering the news she is usually watching it or reading it. She also enjoys visiting her family, riding her Harley, and playing with her adorable dog Diamond and sweet cat Sally.
